Halloween Candy Wine Tasting at the Three Sisters Vineyard, Dahlonega
As a wine enthusiast, I leap at the opportunity to explore a new vineyard. The northern region of Georgia is a hidden gem of award-winning wineries, that are growing in notoriety. During a recent trip to Dahlonega, I had the pleasure of visiting The Three Sisters Winery for a Spoooky good wine tasting experience!
The History
Three Sisters Vineyard holds the historic tile of Dahlonega’s first family winery. The vineyard’s name is inspired by the beautiful view of Lumpkin County’s Three Sisters Mountain to the west. Doug and Sharon Paul purchased the land in 1995 and, the business began in 1999. All of the wines produced by the Three Sisters Vineyard are 100% Georgia and estate grown. The Winery business was established at the end of 1999 and, the first harvest and vintage was in August of 2000.
Three Sisters Vineyards produces the following varieties: Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Touriga, Cynthiana-Norton, and Vidal Blanc.
The Tasting Room
The Tasting Room opened late summer in September of 2001. Currently the vineyard ships to over 35 states.
Spooky Wine Tasting and Candy Pairing
For $25, the winery pairs classic Halloween candies with a selection of six wines.
My favorite is the Fat Boy Red!!
Also, the staff will provide an education on the ports. The Georgia Port is a rich dessert wine, bursting with hints of raisin and boysenberry. Definitely a hit on my palate.
Saturdays are pretty busy so you may want to opt for a Sunday or weekday visit. In addition to tastings, you can purchase a glass or bottle to enjoy, while listening to live music by local artist. A short drive from the city, check out Three Sisters Vineyard for your next wine experience.
