Serenity Cellars Winery and Vineyard
Lemon and chocolate are not flavors you would expect at a winery. Nestled in the hills of Cleveland Georiga, Serenity Cellars will surprise your taste buds. During your visit, you will sample 8 different wines for $14, on a first-come basis.
The Vineyard and Tasting Room
Serenity Cellars is a family-owned, boutique winery located in North Georgia Wine Country, specializing in Old World style wines. Owners Joe and Tina Smith invite you to visit the Tasting Room for a one of a kind experience. While there, shop for wine-related gifts and enjoy selections from the Amoré corner featuring meats, cheeses, and other gourmet foods. Wine tastings are offered all week long during business hours EXCEPT after 6:00 PM on Fridays and on a first come first serve basis.
Serenity Cellars White Wine Selections
The sommelier will start you with the Bianco Bella, which is a blend of Pinot Grigio & Traminette grapes that yields a fresh taste of citrus and melon. Pairs well with fish and seafood. Then, you will taste a delicious French and American oak-aged Chardonnay that will go well with any seafood or chicken dish with a light sauce. Heck, you could even use a bit of this in your recipe.
Serenity Red Wine Selections
For my red drinkers, the Contentment 2017 is a full-bodied beauty. The flavor profile is very fruit-forward, medium tannin, with low acid, and notes of spice. This must be drank with red meat such as a delicious ribeye or rack of lamb.
Dolce Bello – Chocolate Wine – My Favorite
During my visit, the verdict was Doce Bello! So let’s talk about chocolate wine, this chocolate wine. Yes, it’s sweet, similar to a port. Some suggestions from the sommelier are to enjoy it over ice cream or use it as a base in rich sauces.
Overall, Serenity Cellars is a beautiful vineyard, with the Georgia mountains as the backdrop. Take some time to walk the grounds and enjoy the fire pit, live entertainment, and the Friday Night Pizza. Just down the road from Yonah Mountain Winery, and a short hour drive from Atlanta, Serenity is a wine country gem.
